BOISE, Idaho – Boise State Volleyball Lauren Ohlinger and Alyssa Wissinger were named to the District 7 varsity women’s volleyball team selected by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Ohlinger was named in the first team while Wissinger made the second team. Ohlinger’s first-team status makes her eligible for the CoSIDA All-America academic honors to be announced in mid-December. This is the first time that either Bronco has been honored for this award.
Academic teams from all districts are selected by CoSIDA and recognize the best student-athletes in the country for their combined performance in academia and sport.
Ohlinger is a junior outside hitter from Phoenix, Ariz. Academically, she is a two-time All-Mountain West Academic Laureate and two-time MW Fellow-Athlete (3.5 or better cumulative GPA) with a specialization in Communication. Athletically, Ohlinger was the 2019 MW Freshman of the Year and a Spring 2021 All-Mountain West First Team winner.
She led the Broncos and was ranked in the MW’s top 10 for wins and points every three years while wearing the blue and orange. As a junior this fall, Ohlinger is currently ranked first in the MW and 50th nationally for total kills with 393, second in MW and 13th nationally for total service aces with 48, second in the MW and 34th in NCAA for total points at 473.5, second in MW and 35th in NCAA for service aces per set at 0.43, third in MW for points per set at 4.27 and fourth in the MW for the kills per set at 3.54.
Academically, Wissinger is also a two-time winner of the Academic All-Mountain West and twice of the MW Scholar-Athlete, specializing in interdisciplinary studies. The redshirt-junior center tackle from Tempe, Ariz. Currently leads the MW and is ranked 11th nationally in both total blocks at 134 and blocks per set at 1.38. Wissinger is fourth in the league in winning percentage at 0.366 and has 178 kills this fall. She currently ranks seventh in the rally scoring era (2001-present) at Boise State for career blocks with 283.
