Kid Cudi spoke about Kid Cudi’s future.

The alternative hip-hop star spoke to host Sean Evans of the YouTube interview show, The hottest, Thursday (October 6). They discussed everything from his new album, entergalacticand the animated Netflix special of the same name to some pretty big career changes.

During a conversation about aging hip-hop acts, the “Pursuit of Happiness” artist hinted at the possibility of his retirement from music in the near future.

“I don’t feel like I have what they have,” he said when asked which aging stars he sees as role models. “I just don’t know if I want to make music, drop albums too long, you know? I’m kinda nearing the end of everything Kid Cudi, I think.

“I’m really curious to see what else I can do,” adding thoughts on what he would pursue instead. “I was thinking about it – and it’s like a wacky idea I had years ago. But it would be cool to be a kindergarten teacher one day. And do that for a few years. Like, when I I’m 50… And I just infect young people with this coolness. Make them young, and then these kids are just gonna sprinkle the coolness in the world, and I’ll just be like, ‘Yes! Yes!'”

The long awaited entergalactic recently dropped. Along with the new album, Cudi is also gearing up for his directorial debut, which was announced earlier this year.

He reportedly worked on writing and directing a feature film, titled teddy. He explained the film in an Instagram post: “If I could sum up the film in one sentence, I would say this: it’s like taking the song ‘Pursuit of Happiness’ and writing a film about it. He continued, “I added a lot of my own personal struggles and experiences to it, so this film is very close to my heart. I know deep down that this movie will help people the same way my music does.”
