OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – An artist from Nebraska is on the big stage to show what she’s got.
Jocelyne is an Omaha singer and represents the state of Nebraska on NBC American Song Contest. In the past Jocelyn has toured with Darius Rucker, Hootie and the Blowfish and the Barenaked Ladies.
In the show, 56 artists take the stage and perform in front of judges Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson to prove who has the best original song.
“The overall experience has been amazing,” said Jocelyn. All the contestants are amazing, made friendships that will last a long time now, I’m really excited for all of them and I just want everyone to win, that’s like the problem, I’m just rooting for everyone .
Recently, Jocelyn made her first appearance on the show performing her single “Never Alone.”
She says the song is about being able to help anyone who’s stuck in a funk.
“We all sometimes fall into this black hole where we can’t dig ourselves out. And this song represents that, but also represents that you can pull through and you can get help.
It was a song that was felt by many – powerful enough for Snoop Dogg to give it a hug after the cameras went dark.
“He came and was like ‘the song was really beautiful, really touched my heart, great song and thank you.’ He was really nice about it.
She hopes to win but also wants to put her single Never Alone on the front of the stage to spread this positive message.
Jocelyn not only tries to make a difference with her music but also with the community. It has a partnership with the Boys Town and Hope Squad national hotline. They’re going to set up a kindness program for the kids after the show.
“The kindness program is a week-long program where it has my positive, uplifting music and it’s a different song for each day. And at the end of the week, I was putting on a show for the kids.
As well as providing resources from the Boys Town Hotline and Hope Squad. But right now, in addition to spreading her message, she sings for the state of Nebraska in the American Song Contest, which Jocelyn is proud of.
“When I got there, I feel like I’m taking everyone I’ve met with me on my journey. Do I feel like I’m just representing Nebraska? I feel like I represent everyone I have met or touched.
As the competition continues, Jocelyn will continue to represent everyone important to her and show America what she has to offer through her music.
