Sharon Watkins announces the release of her official music video to accompany Proud “her heartbreak anthem of defiance”.

This gripping video reflects the same “dark to light” journey the song takes us on – beginning in a 1000-year-old Romanesque cathedral with our protagonist in a dark place, leading us to a glamorous and uplifting ending to accompany the challenge and empowering message of the song.

Since its release, Proud has been featured worldwide across radio stations, news outlets and major playlists, including the “Top 50 UK Hits 2022 » and the video premiered in the international Wonderland magazine.

“We really wanted the video to reflect the overall message of the song, which speaks to anyone who’s in a bad place and reminds them that no matter what they’re going through, there’s light at the end of the tunnel.”

Videographic designer: Ian Marshall; Photography: Karsten Klups

“The morning of the shoot, it was raining cats and dogs and we didn’t know if we could continue with the exterior scenes. Literally when we got to the cathedral the rain cleared and the sun came out. It was so representative of the song’s ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ theme – and also resulted in some gorgeous opening shots of the rain falling from the building and the surrounding trees.”

Proud began as a message to the “3rd person” in a relationship is not welcome. One of the highlights of the video is when Sharon looks through a grand piano and delivers that message directly to the camera.

Sharon won the UK North Songwriters Competition and with huge collaborators on the next album including Bryan Corbett (New heavyweights), “Baby” Aldridge (Gary Barlow and Macklemore), and Sammy J. Stopford (Abbey Road Studios, Glastonbury Festival, BBC Radio 1), no wonder this first single is making waves in the genre.

Captivating video. A heartbreaking ballad worthy of the name
