On Monday night (November 8), Fort Myers Florida-born singer Ryleigh Plank performed Whitney Houston’s energetic song “I’m Your Baby Tonight” for NBC’s The voice playoffs, representing his coach, Ariana Grande.
After the performance, which you can watch below, Coach Grande said Plank did a “phenomenal” job. See his enthusiastic interpretation here.
After the Houston cover, Grande burst out at Plank saying, “I thought it was phenomenal,” she told Plank. âI love you so much and I am so proud of you. And the thing with you is you pick these great songs. And every time you tell me what you think you choose, I’m like, “I trust you implicitly, immediately, because you’re just a good singer and performer.”
Now, the fate of Plank, like the rest of the show’s contestants, is in the hands of American voters, who will determine whether or not the loud-voiced, loud-voiced singer makes his way to the next round, in the Top 13.
At social media Plank wrote: âI need YOUR help to continue this beautiful journey !! So get your phones and fingers ready to vote like your favorite artists depend on it (because we do) !! â
Plank, who has been called “one in a billion” by Grande, also speaks on mental health, anxiety and depression.
“I want to be a part of that change – to make it something that’s okay for people to show up (with),” Plank said, according to the Fort Myers News-Press. “It’s so important to me.”
