Shawn Mendes teased their upcoming single, “When You’re Gone,” along with its music video on Wednesday.

The Grammy winner shared a clip with hello america, giving fans a taste of what to expect. The clip contained the lyrics, “Wait/ I don’t wanna know what it’s like when you’re gone/ I don’t wanna move on/ I don’t wanna know what it’s like when you’re gone for good / You’re slipping through my fingers / A little / A little / I didn’t know loving you was the happiest I’ve ever been.

Shawn also shared a brief teaser for the music video, which shows him performing the song in front of a crowd of screaming fans.

“When You’re Gone” drops Thursday at midnight. It will be his sequel to his other breakup anthem, “It’s Gonna Be Alright.”

Shawn’s next musical era appears to be exploring his breakup with his girlfriend Camila Cabellowho he dated for two years.

The “Stitches” singer isn’t the only one using the breakup as musical inspiration, as Camila previously admitted she’ll sing about their respective heartbreaks on the upcoming album, Familyto be released April 8.

Fans believe the two communicate with each other through their music, with Shawn seemingly insisting he didn’t want things to end while Camila seemed to hint that their split was for the best.

The “Havana” singer teased a new song clip on TikTok, where she asks, “Did you get the space you needed? / Did you realize you didn’t need me?” She shared another song teaser on Monday that hints that Shawn may have forced a wedge between the two by not emotionally opening up to her.
