Former tennis player Pat Cash has become the latest celebrity to be revealed after being eliminated The Masked Singer.

The Australian, who won Wimbledon aged 22, was unmasked as a bagpiper on the ITV program after finding himself singing against fellow countryman Poodle.

Cash, who portrayed Dusty Springfield I just want to be with you in vocals, was correctly guessed by panelist Davina McCall.

The 56-year-old explained that he joined the show because he is a “frustrated rock guitarist”.

He said: “I had a band for a little while… My name is ‘the emergency singer’.

“When singing, I liked the idea of ​​being able to focus on myself. Ironically, it’s strange that seeing the crowd is quite nerve-wracking.

“I played on center court at Wimbledon and that’s pretty much the most nerve-wracking thing going on here.”

After Cash sang Whatus’s Teenage Dirtbag during the show, the panelists did their best to decipher who was hiding behind the mask.

Comedian Mo Gilligan guessed it was fitness fanatic Joe Wicks while pop star Rita Ora thought it might be former British tennis player Tim Henman.

Throughout the show, comedian Jonathan Ross said he was “100 per cent certain” Bagpipes was former US tennis star John McEnroe, adding that if he was wrong he would eat a bagpipe.

When Cash was unveiled, Ross said, “It just doesn’t make sense.”

Cash, who used a fake Scottish accent on the show, said: “I have Scottish blood, so I apologize to everyone in Scotland. I’m really embarrassed, but I had a lot of fun at to try.

Cash was correctly guessed by TV presenter McCall.

The ITV show opened with the masked celebrities all performing the track I want it this way by the Backstreet Boys.

Bagpipes also performed against masked contestants Traffic Cone, Rockhopper, and Panda in the show.

The Masked Singer, which is on Virgin Media One and ITV, continues on Saturdays at 7:00 p.m.
