The winner of “The Masked Singer” unmasked; “It really reminded me of before I was famous”
Real singing competition, The masked singer, is a blind test of talent.
Presented in 2019, the show pits world-famous singers, songwriters and artists against each other in a musical showdown where their identities are unknown. Judges (Ken Jeong, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Nicole Scherzinger and Robin Thicke) and fans listen to celebrities donned head-to-toe in elaborate costumes before taking out an artist each week.
Wednesday evening 5 December The masked singer ultimately unmasked the Season 6 winner in the season finale. The finale was a battle between a mysterious celebrity in a bull costume and another unknown singer in a queen of hearts costume.
To determine the champion of the season, the two candidates sang twice. The Queen of Hearts performed “What’s Goin On” by Marvin Gaye and “Firework” by Katy Perry. The Bull sang “You Gotta Be” by Des’ree and “Invisible” by Hunter Hayes.
In the end, the Queen of Hearts surpassed the Bull and was declared the winner. In a dramatic reveal, we found out the Taurus was singer / songwriter / choreographer Todrick Hall and the Queen of Hearts was folk / pop singer Jewel.
“It really is an honor to be in the costume room and with the other amazing winners,” said Jewel after her triumph. “And everyone was so talented on this show. And it’s just the privilege of a lifetime to be yourself. This show strangely really goes to your essence, and I find it really special about this show. It really reminded me of before I was famous, of singing in a cafe and being able to just make people react to your voice without knowing that anything else was really touching. I’m not a cool person, never have been, but I have a lot of heart, and that’s why I wanted to be the Heart.
