WATCH: HARDY & ERNEST Pay Tribute To Morgan Wallen With Medley Of Wallen’s Top Top Hits
ROBUST and ERNEST honored their longtime friend, frequent collaborator and touring companion, Morgan Wallen at the 15th Annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Honors.
Label mates Big Loud performed a medley of several of Wallen’s hits, including “Sand In My Boots”, “Wasted On You” and “More Than My Hometown”.
“I can honor my good friend, Morgan Wallen, and play some songs we wrote,” ERNEST shared ahead of their performance. “I’m excited, I don’t know, ‘nerves’ is a funny word – I sure have nerves, but I’m not nervous.”
The duo’s tribute to Wallen began with HARDY taking lead vocals for “Sand In My Boots”, a track HARDY co-wrote with Ashley Gorley and Josh Osborne, before ERNEST joined him on the chorus in perfect harmony. .
As the collaboration continued, ERNEST performed “Wasted On You,” a track he co-wrote on Wallen’s record-breaking second album which also happens to be Wallen’s final No. 1 hit.
HARDY and ERNEST then concluded their performance by paying tribute to Wallen with one final song, a chart-topping track the pair co-wrote together titled “More Than My Hometown.”
After their performance, the singer-songwriters surprised Wallen by revealing that Eric Church was on hand to present him with the ACM Milestone Award.

Wallen, who was seated in the front row of the audience with his mother Lesli and father Tommy by his side, then joined Church on stage to accept the award in front of the star-studded crowd.
“I had a whole thing that I typed, before I knew this was all happening,” Wallen said as Church watched from the side stage. “The first gig I went to was an Eric Church gig at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. And man I just, I felt…it seemed like I could feel what he was feeling when he was singing …I mean, it changed my life. So having you here to present this to me now is more special than I can put into words.
The “You Proof” went on to thank all of his team members and everyone who encouraged him to follow his dreams.
“You know, I have to do this in front of my parents who are here tonight. Thanks guys for always supporting me,” Wallen added. “Man, thank you to everyone on my team, my friends, my songwriter friends.”
Wallen then took a moment to acknowledge HARDY and ERNEST’s impressive performance that celebrated many of his chart-topping successes.
“HARDY and ERN, you know… I’ve never really heard them play like that, so that was really special for me too,” Wallen continued. “We’ve known each other for a long time now, we’ve written 100 songs together, we’ve done a lot together and this was one of my favorite times of anyone we’ve had together.”
After thanking the Academy of Country Music for bestowing him with this esteemed honor, Wallen went on to thank God and his band.
” Thank God. Me and God, we had some interesting things to do, I guess you could say,” Wallen joked. “It definitely wasn’t in my speech originally. But I’m really grateful for the opportunities. You know, me and my band, thanks to my band, I think they’re here somewhere. I’m really grateful for the opportunities that have been given to me, and just to everyone who has made this possible, thank you guys most of you know who you are.
He concluded his speech by graciously thanking his fans.
“It’s been an amazing year just to get the awards, so it’s been great. The awards are awesome, but my real measure of success is my fans, and I can see every night on the road this year and for many years to come,” Wallen said. “So thank you guys for supporting me man, it means a lot to me. Seriously, thank you all, I really appreciate it. God bless you, have a great night.
