He has come a long way since his American Idol days! David Archuleta was the Season 7 finalist of the Reality Singing Competition, but what has he been up to since?

“I felt so out of touch with everything,” the singer said Variety in December 2021 about his appearance on the show. “For example, 13 years later, I am reconstructing what was really going on. But it’s still a process because I still don’t understand why people were so interested.

He added: “I think I was just in protection mode the whole time. On the contrary, I was putting a wall between myself and everyone.

Immediately after competing on American Idol, the singer of “Crush” released his self-titled debut album David Archuleta in 2008. Since then he has released seven more albums and various singles.

“When I started [singing], all I knew was that I liked to sing, it made me feel good and it made me feel understood, ”said David Billboard in March 2020. “I realized that I felt even more fulfilled when I realized why I started singing. I can have peace, I can have fun, but I can be honest – and have the combination of all of that, rather than just going after the catchiest, most pop, and trendiest thing. I just feel more relaxed and become who I am again.

In May of the same year, his album Therapy sessions fall.

“A lot of [the songs] are basically the conversation I had with myself, where I try to move forward, but I fight a lot of the worry and negativity that I feel about myself, ”explained David. “The fun aspects of the tracks are almost like, ‘Come on, you have to make fun of yourself a little bit – it’s kinda ridiculous how you think. Don’t let it get to you.

In addition to his continued musical career, David has become a member of the LGBTQ + community.

“I’ve been open to myself and my close family for a few years now that I’m not sure about my own sexuality. I came out in 2014 as gay for my family. But then I had similar feelings for both sexes, so maybe a spectrum of bisexuals, ”he shared. via Instagram in June 2021. “I don’t know what to think and I don’t have all the answers. I just invite you to consider making room to be more understanding and compassionate towards those who are LGBTQIA +, and those who are part of this community and are trying to find that balance with their faith which is also an important part of their identity. like me. . “

The “OK, All Right” musician spoke openly about his sexuality during his Variety profile.

“It’s still new to me, but I feel great,” said David. “I don’t have to be someone else. I just hold that part of me with more grace and no shame. I don’t feel like I have to hide anything anymore. And it is such a relief.
